Massage Therapy for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

According to the Public Health Agency of Canada one in 66 children in Canada is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Research is now demonstrating the benefits of massage therapy for children on the spectrum.

Although children with autism are frequently opposed to physical touch, parents and massage therapist are finding great success in the use of massage therapy. To provide quality care for children diagnosed with ASD, massage therapists and health professionals are required to undo a ‘Touch Therapy’ training course.
